Course: BB12
Sixth in a Series of
Seminars for
DB2 Application Developers
presented by
Bonnie K.

EXPLAIN is the primary tool for providing insight into the DB2
optimizer and the access paths chosen to satisfy program SQL. Application
developers and Database Administrators should understand how to use EXPLAIN to
determine how a program is interacting with DB2. They also need to know how to
fix performance problems. Expect a clear discussion of what EXPLAIN can tell you
about access paths and performance. This two day seminar will take you from the
basic to the advanced level of using EXPLAIN.

This 2-day seminar is the sixth in a series of seminars being
offered for application developers. The first course in this series, "Things I
Wish They'd Told Me 8 Years Ago", is NOT a prerequisite for this class but it is
helpful. The topic for this seminar was chosen by students and clients who asked
for a class that discusses the nuts and bolts of using EXPLAIN. It is offered in
response to requests to:
"JUST TELL US HOW TO SPOT THE
PROBLEMS
AND
HOW TO FIX THEM."
